Because there are such a small number of llamas in Australia, they are usually mistaken for alpaca. They are in fact a camelid, from South America. They have been used as pack animals continuously since the days of the Incas and the tribes of South America.

There is an emerging fibre and yarn industry, mostly in the Unites States of America, which is almost unheard of here in Australia. I hope to change all that with the introduction of Granite Haven Llamas, Fibre, Yarn and Knitwear.
