This is our initial pilot manufacture of a large commercial run of a WHOLLY Australian manufactured Gotland yarn.
The gotland sheep are tri coloured so this yarn is heathered resulting in a light grey, soft handle with lustre,it is multi toned, speckled the yarn is mottled.Lovely in its natural colour ,OVERDYE IT AND YOU HAVE A BESPOKE COMPLEX LOOKING YARN WHEN COMPARED TO A SOLID DYED YARN..IDEAL for stranded colourway work using the natural grey and over dye in your colour choice producing a unique creative garment .The hanks of 4 ply and 8 ply yarn are consistent in regards to meterage as I have used a EEW YARN COUNTER 2 to check and in regards to weight all hanks consistently weigh at 104g. Bendigo Woollen mill have done an amazing job.

Gotland grey 4ply yarn 100g hanks $30 360 meters approx
This yarn is soft has lustre and you treat it as you would with any woollen garment. It over dyes beautifully.I have never had to hand wash any knitted garments unless obvious soiling I just sponged off the area.WHATI DO is place the garment flat on a cold night in a sheltered spot and odours disappear. In Europe some people put them in the snow.
I always do a swatch before I start knitting .The quality control at Bendigo Woollen Mill is excellent there is no variation in the 4ply or 8 ply which is important for knitters both gauges are true to their ply.I use the natural grey yarn as the background or main colour then introduce my overdyed 4ply or 8ply yarn depending on what ply you are knitting with. Swatches have been consistent and hanks also have weighed in at 104g at this early stage .I also have checked the meterage on a number of hanks using the EEW YARN COUNTER 2 and found the results constant.
